Quarry Laborer

Job Summary

The Southern Stone Company is seeking Quarry Laborer to assist with a variety of tasks on active construction and civil project sites. This role is essential in supporting the onsite team with manual labor, site preparation, equipment handling, and general maintenance duties to ensure smooth and efficient operations. General Construction Laborers will work under the direction of site supervisors to help meet daily goals and uphold safety standards. This full-time position that will report to the Quarry in Jackson, Missouri.

Job Responsibilities but not limited to:

· Perform general labor tasks including digging, grading, lifting, and carrying materials

· Assist in the setup and teardown of temporary structures such as barricades, signage, and fencing

· Operate hand tools and power tools safely and effectively as directed

· Load and unload materials from trucks and organize them on-site

· Assist with basic site cleanup including sweeping, removing debris, and organizing tools and materials

· Support equipment operators by clearing work areas and guiding machinery when needed

· Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)

· Help with minor concrete work, trenching, backfilling, and compacting soil

· Work in coordination with other laborers, tradespeople, and supervisors to meet project deadlines

· Report unsafe conditions, incidents, or near misses immediately to the supervisor

· Perform any other general site support duties as assigned by site leadership

Job Requirements and Qualifications:

· High School Diploma or equivalent

· Previous general labor experience is a plus but not required

· Strong communication and organizational skills with attention to detail

· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities

· Team-oriented mindset with a proactive and professional approach

· Strong work ethic and positive attitude toward safety and teamwork

· Physically able to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs. for extended periods, with or without reasonable accommodation

· Ability to work in outdoor conditions including heat, cold, and inclement weather, and full mobility to navigate diverse job sites and terrain.

· Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time, with or without reasonable accommodation

· Reliable transportation and punctuality are a must

· Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test

· Must have valid, unexpired forms of identification for employment eligibility
