Quarry QC Technician

Job Summary: 

The QC Technician will work closely with the Quarry Operations Manager and Operation Team. Responsibilities will include sampling and laboratory testing of aggregates at the quarry under the direction of the Quarry Operations Manager. The QC Technician will also work closely with 3rd party testing laboratories when required. The position requires the exercise of physical material sampling, high attention to detail, decision making, and excellent communication skills. The base of operation is in Neely’s Landing, Missouri.  

Job Responsibilities include but not limited to: 

• Obtain samples of aggregates from stockpiles or conveyors using applicable ASTM or other approved sampling methods.  
• Perform laboratory tests on aggregates per assignment from Quarry Operations Manager.  
• Must be capable of performing the following laboratory tests: 
• Gradation including #200 Wash (ASTM C136, ASTM C117) 
• Enter test data using Microsoft Excel. 
• Immediately communicate test results to Operations Team.  
• Deliver samples to 3rd party testing labs for material testing. 
• Supervise the sampling of materials by 3rd party testing labs to ensure proper sampling techniques are used. 
• Assist with laboratory and office maintenance as needed.  

Skills and Qualifications: 

• Minimum 3 years of experience in material sampling and laboratory testing. 
• ACI Aggregate/Soils Base Testing certification is preferred.  
• Strong communication, reading/writing, and organizational skills. 
• Must pass all required pre-employment screenings which may include a background check and drug/alcohol test, and any other job-related tests. 
• Able to physically sample and handle large quantities of aggregates.  
• Proficient goal setting and prioritization skills that is well communicated to the operations team.
